Gulp...

Today I had one of those moments, ya know, the kind where you have to pick your heart up off the ground while simultaneously taking the worlds largest gulp. This morning Jackson woke up really early so I gave him a bottle and put him back to bed. I thought he had fallen asleep until I heard a thud followed by screaming. I ran in there and found him sitting on the floor...he had fallen out of his crib. I'm not sure how it happened but I think he was hanging over the side and flipped right out. He's fine, in fact he stopped crying as soon as I picked him up and the doctor saw no reason to bring him in. I pulled out he tool box and lowered the crib right away but I'm still not sure how my heart can handle all the years of falls and bumps and bruises that are to come!

Rewinding

It's very late, or very early depending on how you choose to look at things. It's 5:00am and I've yet to sleep as I've been putting the finishing touches on the big birthday party that we're having tomorrow, or today, again you choose. I haven't been able to help myself all night but to think back on what we were doing at this time last year. Growing up on our birthdays every year my mom would say "at this time __ years ago I was doing...." I understand it now. At this time one year ago, I had finally gotten to hold baby Jackson for the first time and I just kept saying over and over again "He's so perfect." He was born at 1:57am and I didn't hold him until around 4am, and by that point I could hardly keep my eyes open so our new family tired to settle in for some sleep, which is what I should do now. I can't believe a whole year has passed, I have loved every single minute of it, even on the sleepless nights like tonight!

Today...

I'm sort of mortified that I'm actually posting this picture of myself, but I am. I year ago this today I had been admitted into the hospital and induced and we were anxiously awaiting Jackson. He didn't exactly cooperate and wasn't born until the next day. I can't help remembering how excited, nervous, and scared we were!

And this is Jackson today! Ok, so not today but a week ago at his early birthday party while in Michigan!

Job Updates

It seems like I've been looking for a job for a year, and well, it's been just about a year now!  Recently this has gotten very frustrating for me because I've been applying for pretty much anything that has come along.  Most of the jobs out there have nothing to do with my degree which is sad to me seeing how long it took me to get it, but I'm applying anyway.  I've had some interviews and been told I'm over qualified for positions have come up empty handed.

If you remember back to this post and this post, you'll remember that I went on an interview last fall with a magazine called Hilton Head and beyond.  This was a graphic design job and one that I was very interested in.  Well, I didn't get the position, they decided not to hire anyone at that time, however, I've just been in contact with them again this week about the position!  They have me doing a project as part of the interview process this time.  They've given me sort of a fake task to complete and have given a deadline for it.  So this weekend I've been working on 2 ad designs and a 4 page magazine spread.  I'm really hoping this job works out as I would love to have this position.

Right before this position opened up I decided that I was getting tired of waiting around for a job and I was going to try and get my own graphic design business up and running.  I've been working on getting a website with some of my work up and have made a few contacts.  At the very least I hope to get some freelance work rolling in.  I've also been meeting with some friends and taking a lot of pictures in the hopes of also doing some photography on the side.  These are a few pictures of my friend Ellen's little girl that I did this week.

Yum!

This is what I did last night while Joe was out for a bit...White chocolate raspberry cheesecake!  It is sooo yummy!
