New Favorite Picture

This is my new favorite picture!  We were playing around trying to get a good one to use on the baby announcements and this one is the winner.  Things here are going ok.  Jackson has decided that he doesn't care if it's day or night, he just doesn't like to sleep!  So, we are tired, tired, tired!  We're surviving though.  A friend came over today to babysit for a few hours so we could get out and do something together.  We went to eat and walked around talking about how much we missed him, but it was still good to get out.  Now it's off to bed!

Catching up

I haven't been the best blogger as life has been a bit busy.  We have had non stop family and friends visiting since Jackson was born!  It's been so good to see everyone and for everyone to be able to love on Jackson a bit, but I can't handle another goodbye!  After my mom left, Joe's mom was here and then my friend Sarah and then my brother.  He just left yesterday so it's just the 3 of us for the first time since we got home from the hospital.  Yesterday was the first day that it was just the 2 of us here (Jackson and I) and we're still trying to figure out how that all works.  I'm finding that it's harder than I had expected to get things done.  It seems that he will sleep like a champ until I want to get something done and then he screams!  We're figuring it out though.  We're also still working through some feeding issues but all in all things are going really well.  I still can't believe that 2 weeks ago he was inside still!  Here are a few pictures taken this past weekend during my brothers visit.

Week in review

It's hard to believe that Jackson is already a week old and yet the last week seems really long all at once.  How does that happen?  It just seems like forever ago that I was in the hospital, and yet I don't think we can remember life before Jackson.

I have to say that we both are totally in love with this little boy.  So far things have been easier than I thought.  He's a good sleeper, and a good eater, and doesn't fuss a whole lot at all.  We're tired as all new parents are but I don't even really care.

If you know me you know that I love my sleep and don't really like it to be interrupted, however, I'm finding that I really enjoy getting up with him at night.  I like just sitting with him when all is quite and it's just him and I.

Not to say that Joe doesn't do his fair share of the night time duties.  It's been really fun to watch Joe with Jackson.  Joe hadn't had any experience with babies and tends to be the nervous type to begin with but he's really taken to being a daddy.  He changes a lot of poopy diapers (that seems to be all Jackson does other than sleep), and likes to be very involved.  Part of me wishes already that I could slow down time, he's already changing and growing and while I'm excited for the next stages he's just so small and sweet right now.

Daddy and Jackson

So glad Sarah is finally here

Thanks Cindy!

Grandma Sandy came yesterday to meet Jackson and delivered this AMAZING quilt made by Joe's Aunt, Cindy.  We LOVE it!!!  Thanks so much!
She also brought the blanket in the picture below.  This was Joe's baby blanket!  He was so excited that Jackson gets to use this.

Daddy holding Jackson for the first time.  The nurse in the pink cap was awesome, she got me through the night!

Getting to hold him for the first time.  I think it was 4am by this time.

Happy Birthday!

Jackson James Evenden is finally here!  The induction didn't go quite as planned and I ended up having a c-section after almost 20 hours of labor (though I never got to the pushing stage thankfully).  So, Jackson was born on January 9th and 1:57 am.  He weighed 7lbs, 3oz, and was 20 inches long.  Due to the c-section our hospital stay was a bit longer than we expected but that's ok, he's here and he's perfect and we love him.  I will post more pictures and info later tonight.

Finally!

We finally have an induction date.  We are scheduled for this coming Thursday at 6am!  So, as long as everything goes as planned we will meet Jackson this week!  My mom was able to get some time off of work so she will be coming back on Wednesday and being here to help out.

Christmas Update

Long time no post!  So, once again I've been a bad blogger, oh well.  First and foremost the question that everyone seems to be asking these days....no baby YET!  It's been an up and down few weeks on that front.  My mom flew in on the 22nd, and as I believe I posted the doctor seemed to think that she would get to meet the baby while she was here.  The following Monday she came with me to my appointment and he said no dice and scheduling the induction (which is different than my other doctor had said).  She cried right there in his office and did her best to sway him but no luck.  He did say that we will most likely schedule this coming monday at my appointment.  So, we're still waiting.

Other than that our Christmas was good.  My mom was here as well as my grandpa from Florida and we just kinda hung out.  My dad left Michigan at 2:00am on Christmas Eve and got here around 6pm on Christmas night.  They were here until the 1st, so we had a nice long visit with them.  We didn't do a whole lot, we did a lot of crossword puzzles, read a lot of books and just hung out.  We did spend one day in Savannah and went to Forsyth Park which is where all the scenes in Forest Gump were filmed while he was sitting on the bench.  It's a really great park and it was about 75 out so we just sat on a bench by the fountain.  Then we went down to River street and ate and hit a few of the shops.  We then watched a few of the HUGE ships come in all full of cargo.  They left on the morning of the 1st and it was much harder than expected.  I think we were all really counting on Jackson coming while they were here, and it was sad for everyone that they had to go before hand.  I don't think I realized how much I wanted my mom there with me for the birth and I was a mess all day crying and whatnot.  We did come up with a plan though, if we can schedule to induce at my appointment on Monday she is getting a plane ticket to come back!  It seems so crazy to me to leave on Thursday and be back the following Wednesday but I think it's important to all of us.  As much as we love it here I'm learning that warm weather and beautiful beaches doesn't replace family...

These are a few pictures of how we spent Christmas day.  It was 80 here, which is nice but not very Christmasy!
