Today was actually a really good day, and one of the first times that I have been really positive about being here. We went down to the beach today with another couple who have just moved here from Maine. It was about 95 today so we thought it was the perfect day. It really was as the beach wasn't that crowded and the sun was shinning. We packed lunches and just hung on the beach. We quickly found that it was too hot to just sit on the beach so we ventured into the waters. The biggest surprise to me is how WARM the water is. Today the water temps were 85! So, needless to say we spent the entire afternoon out in the water jumping waves and laughing. At one point Karen and Robert got out to walk on the beach for awhile and Joe and I were still out about chest deep when about 50 yards out about 10 dolphins went swimming by! I've never seen anything like that before in my life! So, it was a good day and one that we hope to repeat throughout the fall!
I've been wondering all week what I should write about, and I've still got nothing. Life isn't all that interesting right now....I spend my days here at the house just kinda passing the time. For all my gusto last week about this being what I make of it, I haven't done so well. I haven't left the house much and it's hard to get motivated at all. But next week should be better. Joe and I are planning a trip to the beach tomorrow (without the dog!) and then I have my first doctors appt. here on Tuesday. It's close to the beach so I plan on going to the library on Monday and finding a book and then heading to the beach after my appt. on Tuesday. It has been nice having a phone, and I've put it to good use! I think a few people may even be getting sick of hearing from me!
Saturday evening we thought it would be a good idea to take Bruiser to the beach and officially make him a beach dog! I can't say that we'll take him back any time soon, and he for sure did not win the "best dog on the beach" award. Even though we made sure he had gone before we left, the second he stepped in the sand we decided that he needed to poop, and then did it again just as we were leaving. Thank goodness they had bad stations! You can only bring dogs on the beach after 5pm but the beach was still pretty packed at 7 when we got there due to the holiday weekend and great (if you like 95 everyday) weather. We loved digging in the sand and chasing things he just barked...a lot! At everyone and everything! He was terrified of the water though. Here are some pictures of our night.
Recap of the last few weeks. Warning: Worlds longest post!
0 comments Posted by Sarah Evenden at 11:38 AMWell, it's been a long few weeks and I figure it's finally time to recap a little....
I just wanted to post and let everyone know that we are alive! It's been a long week but I've graduated, made the drive to SC and then had to say goodbye to my mom. I'm getting adjusted here, at times kicking and screaming. We do not have cable yet, or internet access, and our cell phones don't work at the house. So, as soon as I can find some more time on the computer I will post some pictures and update in further detail.
It's true, we had our ultrasound yesterday and we are indeed having a boy! I must say I was pretty shocked because I was SURE it was a girl....So, I took back the pink stuff I'd recently bought and bought some blue!
In other news, we are still pluggin' away. Joe has started work, no students yet but they have had orientation and teacher inservices. He will have students this coming Monday. As for me, I'm still trying to get through my last week of school and I've been kicking and screaming all the way through! I just want to be done....right now, not at the end of the week. BUT, if I can get all my work done today and tomorrow then I'm all done! It's looking like my mom and I will head out on Wednesday morning and hopefully drive straight though (15 hours) and get in Wednesday night. If not we'll take our time and make it there sometime Thursday. I'm finding that I kinda can't wait to get there at this point. I miss my husband!
The week has continued to be a whirlwind! We finally got totally out of our house here in Mt. Pleasant at 11:00pm on Monday night. What a way to spend your first anniversary! We stayed Monday and Tuesday night in a hotel in Mt. Pleasant while Joe finished up work and then headed to my parents house on Wednesday with the truck. Joe and his friend Rich (and the cats) headed out yesterday morning. They had a very long day of driving and some yucky storms in coming through the mountains in North Carolina. They left at 7:30 am and stopped around 10pm in North Carolina. Joe called every few hours to keep me updated and I heard a lot of meowing going on! They girls were not happy to be in the car or in a cage! They did settle down according to Joe and slept a good portion of the day. However, this morning he called to tell me that they were about 2 hours away from our new home and during the call realized that Grey, one of the cats had figured out how to open the cage and they were all running free! Needless to say, they were pulling over and I haven't heard anything since! This is all a totally new experience for Joe and I'm proud of him.
As I've said previously, the hardest part in all of this has been housing. We thought we had that cute little house below all set and then the guy backed out on us at the last minute. We seriously had less than 3 days and no place to live! Well, we resigned ourselves to pay a whole lot more to rent something, but the price just wasn't sitting with me and was keeping me up at night. So, we called this guy back and ended up getting the house below AGAIN. It was a very frustrating process. We found out that the house is in pre-foreclosure, which is where all the hassle was. We just found this out by chance so we are renting month to month for a lower rent that he originally had it listed for. We have decided that it's really expensive to rent there and we may want to consider buying in the near future and this house could be an option for us. So, like everything else that has happened in the last week, it's all fallen apart and then worked out for the better.
So, things should start to settle down soon. Joe will start work on Tuesday and my last day of work will be next friday. So until then I'm staying with my parents and just working and finishing up school. Not too bad. It's also nice to be at home with my parents and just chill with them for awhile. As always, thanks for checking in.
